Haya Aqilah Zhafirah, a batch 2022 student of the International Business Management program at Petra Christian University, won the Emerald-GAMAICEB 2026 Research Impact Award for a paper written with her thesis advisor.
Haya Aqilah Zhafirah, a batch 2022 student of the International Business Management program at 彼得拉基督大学, won the Emerald-GAMAICEB 2026 Research Impact Award. She received it at the 14th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Economics and Business (GAMAICEB) in Yogyakarta on 16 and 17 September 2026. Mrs. Ruth Srininta Tarigan, her thesis advisor, co-wrote the paper on AI personalisation.
How did the Research Impact Award begin?
Haya was writing her thesis and did not know whether a conference would accept a paper from it. She applied anyway.
Mrs. Ruth had set one condition: only a conference with a strong reputation. She also worked with Haya on the paper and the presentation, so the high standard came with practical help. The conference accepted the paper.
What happened in Yogyakarta?
The paper is “The Accuracy-Signal Paradox: How Data Transparency and Functional Utility Override the ‘Creepiness’ of AI Personalization.” Haya presented it on 16 September 2026 at The Alana Hotel & Convention Center Yogyakarta. She took real feedback and stayed until the sessions finished.
On 17 September, the paper won the Emerald-GAMAICEB 2026 Research Impact Award. Emerald Publishing makes the award through its Regional Awards, and the certificate names both authors.
The authors also received a voucher that waives the submission fee at the Journal of Indonesian Economy and Business (JIEB), and were invited to submit the paper there. The Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Gadjah Mada publishes JIEB, which its own website reports as indexed in Scopus, quartile Q3.
What does the award show about studying International Business Management at Petra?
Haya’s route had two parts: a high standard and practical help from her advisor. Both came from Mrs. Ruth, a lecturer in the International Business Management program at Petra Christian University. More news is on the News and Events page.
