IBM International Excursion is an annual event held by the International Business Management program of Petra Christian University where IBM students are given the opportunity to travel out of the country to visit international companies and universities. The theme for this year’s IBM International Excursion was “Dawning through the Attainment of Arts”.

IBM International Excursion 2023 started with the students gathering at Juanda T2 Airport where they departed to Singapore. The event was scheduled for seven days but for the first day, the students were given the chance to take a rest for the night at V Hotel where the students arrived. The hotel was located in Lavender, Singapore.

On the second day in the afternoon, the students ventured to their first company visit, which was Bloomberg. The students were divided into three batches where each batch received a session lasting for an hour. The students were taught how to use Bloomberg Terminal and how they can utilise it for stocks and trading at an intermediate level. 

For the third day, the students were scheduled to visit SMU and Pearson. There were plenty of things to explore in SMU. Each building represents a different campus. After the session, everyone took a group photo and said their goodbyes. The students continued on the visit which was visiting Pearson. Mr. Jason Tan talked about how Pearson has helped universities and the learning system by providing their services.

On the fourth day, the students visited NUS and the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. For the NUS visit, the students had a bus tour. There was Ebony Kim, who led the students through NUS. After the visit, everyone took a group picture and headed straight to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia. At the Embassy, the students attended a seminar where the speakers talked about what businesses are good in a post-pandemic world and the potential of Indonesia’s economy when working together with Singapore.

For the fifth day, the students were given a day-off to explore Singapore. On the sixth day, the students were scheduled to visit P&G and LinkedIn. In P&G, Mr. Ilham talked about various brands that P&G has and the strategies they use as a consumer goods company. The visit ended with everyone taking a group photo. From P&G, the students travelled to LinkedIn, where they were greeted by Mr. David. Mr. David taught the students how to utilise their LinkedIn account in order to connect with more people.

For the last day, the students packed their belongings and they set off to Changi Airport, where they spent their time in Jewel before the flight. Everyone then arrived at Juanda T2 Airport where all of their parents awaited them. With all of that done, it wrapped the whole event of IBM International Excursion 2023.

Committee Community is an annual event that is held to transform new IBM students into future committee members who are equipped with the necessary soft skills, hard skills, and knowledge. This event will train new IBM students through one-on-one interviews, workshops with their chosen division, and presentations of an event that the participants come up with.

Committee Community 2022 started with the participants receiving basic materials from the speakers of every division. Then later, the participants joined a workshop to learn more details about the division they chose. During the workshop, the participants interacted more with the speakers, and they were also given a chance to ask questions. After the workshop, the participants were divided into groups, and were assigned to create an event that had already been determined by the committees. Each member represented a division that they chose, and they had to present what they came up with on the second day.

On the second day, Bu Evie Santoso, an alumnus of Petra Christian University, gave a presentation about LK Sinergi. During her presentation, she explained about the importance of joining an organization at Petra Christian University (PCU). She also encouraged the participants to join PCU's organizations like BEM, PERSMA, BPMF, and many more. After that, the participants went back to their assigned teams and then presented the event that they created in the first day. The groups then had a Q&A session with the speakers of each division, who also served as the judge. Lastly, the event was closed with a documentation session to commemorate the event.

Who doesn’t love spreadsheets? When you know how to properly utilize them, they can be a powerful ally in the professional world. Earlier this month, some IBMers from Batch 2018. 2019 and 2020 and some IBM lecturers and admins took a basic Microsoft Excel certification exam. After passing the exam, all of these IBMers have one more added value that they can include in their CV!

Batch 2021 students have just concluded a two-day workshop series consisting of three workshops, which are compulsory for all Skills 2 students. The workshops were facilitated by Florensia Wiyono, the CEO of Bright Internships who is an IBMer from Batch 2006. The workshops helped the students to focus on how to get an early start on career planning, start documenting their organizational experience and other achievements into a professional CV, and cultivate a professional online presence.

The IBM Business Competition is an annual business competition dedicated for high schoolers across Indonesia, held by the International Business Management (IBM), at Petra Christian University, which aims to incite the high schoolers’ ingenuity before entering the real-life business world. The competition, which was held over the course of three days, was designed to cultivate business competencies that are essential for the participants’ future, be it cognitive, interpersonal, and a variety of other expertise. This year, the theme of the competition, Journey to the Unmapped, required the participants to use their creativity, analytical skills, and teamwork in both the online and offline contexts. Congratulations to all of the winners! We are looking forward to hearing more good things about you!

On 17 December 2021, IBM Program of Petra Christian University conducted a virtual excursion. The excursion is intended to broaden the knowledge of IBM students, especially in the area of marketing management.

The theme of the virtual excursion is “Legerity”, which means "alert facile quickness of mind or body". This theme is aligned with the current condition of COVID-19 where many businesses have to adapt quickly with the latest situation. We invited two company representatives and conducted the excursion via Zoom. The first speaker was Mrs. Sienny Sentosa as the Branch Manager of PT. Toeng Makmur (distributor of Zojirushi in Indonesia) and the second one was Mrs. Imelda Lim as the President Director of Auntie Anne’s Pretzel Indonesia. The representatives talked about how the COVID-19 has affected their business and explained what sort of action they have made to minimize it. Moreover, they talked about the changes of marketing strategy they applied to their company before and after COVID-19 pandemic.

The IBM Program is working together with Bright Internships to prepare IBM students for their career. The class, which is currently full, is open for the 2018 and 2019 batch and is fully paid by the program, which means that it is free for students who are committed to fully participate. The IBM Program will continue to look for ways to equip all IBMers with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their career, so look for future opportunities if you happen to miss this one!

Every year, Ice Breaking is held by International Business Management Program of Petra Christian University to bond the new students with other batches and also to introduce them with all IBM lecturers.
 
As interpreted from the theme of the event, “The Conjoint Ostium”, Ice Breaking 2021 aims to open the gate for togetherness, emphasizing the students' new step together entering the IBM journey. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, all activities are now conducted online, resulting in little interaction between the older and younger batches. This is a particularly unfortunate situation because the seniors play a crucial role for guiding their juniors in adjusting to this new environment. Therefore, we want to unite the older and newer batches through this ice breaking event so that they can form a strong relationship in International Business Management Program.
 
It is the second time that the Ice Breaking event is held online through Zoom, but each batch managed to get to know each other deeper through the sharing session while having fun playing the mini games together 😊

Welcome Party is an event annually held by the International Business Management program of Petra Christian University. The purpose of this event was to introduce freshmen with the IBM’s culture as well to strengthen bond among the freshmen with each other.

Welcome Party 2021 with the theme "Unimpeachable Navigation" aimed to become a reliable navigation that provided freshmen with the necessary guidance on the International Business Management program, and to depict the togetherness of the freshmen with the symbol of one spaceship to achieve a common goal. During the activity, freshmen listened to some sharing session from the upper batch as well as played some ice-breaking games through mini games and mega games in the breakout rooms. Moreover, the committees also gave some time for them to get to know each other before playing together.

This year's Welcome Party 2021 was being held through Zoom meeting. There were 2 sharing sessions as well as four different games in the event which allowed the freshmen to know more about IBM and the community.

The end of an academic year is always bittersweet. It is the time for graduation joy, and yet, it is also the time to say goodbye. At the end of the Even 2020/2021 semester, the IBM program bid farewell to Batch 2017 students, who had completed their journey at IBM and were getting ready for the next chapters of their lives.

The IBM Farewell this year was conducted online again due to the surging cases of COVID-19; however, that did not mean that the participants could not have fun. Batch 2017 students got to play games and laugh with lecturers and staff for the last time, while reminiscing their journey at IBM in the past four years. Their IBM journey was not always easy, but Batch 2017 made it through. Their journey after this may not always be easy either, but looking at how they pushed through, all of us here at IBM believe that they will make it through too.

Farewell, Batch 2017, may your will remain strong, your hearts kind, and your integrity upheld, even in the most difficult of times. God bless you all!

Every year, International Business Management Program of Petra Christian University conducted local excursions, in which the students visit several companies in East Java in order to learn business strategies from the companies. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic has caused all activities to be held online and students cannot have the experience to visit companies.

In order to ensure that the students can still learn business strategies from companies, this year's local excursion is conducted online via Zoom, called Virtual Excursion.

Virtual Excursion 2021 with the theme "Versatile" aims to help students to understand the steps required in choosing the right marketing management strategy to keep up with the changes that happen in the current environment, especially in this new normal era. Two speakers from two well-known companies were invited to share the marketing strategies of their companies in this new normal era. The first speaker was the founder of Miniletics, Billy Handoyo, which is also an IBM alumnus from batch 2012. The second speaker was the Regional Corporate Affairs Manager - East Indonesia of Coca Cola Amatil, Ms. Armytanti Hanum Kasmito.  

IBM Business Competition is an annual business competition held by International Business Management Program of Petra Christian University for high school students all over Indonesia.

As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many businesses in the whole world. This year’s IBM Business Competition 2021 with the new theme of “Alteration: The Genesis of Triumph” would like to announce to all the participants, whom we call the Pioneers, to be aware of the importance of innovation in this current situation. The innovative knowledge from this year’s Business Competition 2021 can be their start to succeed in the business world.

Following the pandemic regulations, this year’s event is fully conducted through online platforms. Zoom, websites, and LINE are the platforms being used by the 70 teams that joined Business Competition 2021. Even though the event was conducted online, the tense and the knowledge are still as worthy as previous Business Competition.

Ice Breaking is an annual event held by International Business Management Program of Petra Christian University. The purpose of this event is to build strong relationships among students across batches.

As indicated from the theme of the event, “Amalgamation,” Ice Breaking 2021 aims to unite the upper with the lower batch. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused all activities to be held online which leads to minimal interaction between the upper and the lower batch. This condition is very unfortunate because the seniors play an important role in guiding their juniors to be able to navigate campus life at IBM. Hence, through the series of activities in this year’s ice breaking, we would like to connect the upper with the newer batch to help create a solid bond in the International Business Management Program.

For the first time, Ice Breaking 2021 is held online through Zoom. The sharing session as well as the games in the event have been arranged in such ways to not only build connections, but also to increase teamwork skills.

Seminar in International Business (SIB) is one of the courses provided by International Business Management Program for 7th semester students. In this course, students are expected to utilize all knowledge and skills that they have learnt since semester 1 to analyze current business topics.

For SIB 2020, seven groups consisting of batch 2016 and 2017 discussed seven trending business topics in the form of attractive videos. The videos can be seen in IBM's Instagram account (@ibm.petra) and Youtube channel (International Business Management UK Petra).

IBM Business Competition is an annual business competition conducted by International Business Management Program of Petra Christian University for high school students all over Indonesia.

IBM Business Competition 2020 with the theme "Acclimation: The Boundless Revolution" is inspired by our dynamic world that keeps evolving, where the students' adaptability will be put into test. Through the series of games and challenges, the participants will be able to enhance their abilities to face various situation in just two days of competition.

This year's IBM Business Competition 2020 will also be different. The competition will be conducted online using various platforms such as Google Meet, Google Classroom, and Kahoot and we will present new games and challenges like never before. The limits of the participants will be tested, both mentally and physically.

In the last session of IBM Alumni Talk Series, we invite Felix Aprilio Rahardjo, S.E., the founder of Kintsugi Visual, to discuss about the adjustment in the business strategy due to Covid-19, including the innnovation and new strategy in a creative visual communication industry. Together with Liem Pei Fun, S.E., M.Com., CFP, CSA, Felix will explore many business opportunities and choices one could take in the creative visual communication industry.

In the third session of IBM Alumni Talk Series, we invite Wiranti Widyastuti Hadinoto, S.E., the owner of Candi Aluminium and Nyonya Ranti Artisan Dessert, to discuss about the Dos and Don'ts for entrepreneurs in the future. Together with Dr. Ricky Wang as the Dean of Faculty of Business and Economics, Wiranti will give her insights on how entrepreneurs and business people alike try to make the right decisions in this Covid-19 era.
